Litigation and Expert Witnessing
ALFA provides expert witnessing, due diligence, product liability and wrongful death litigation support to many valued clients both domestic and global. We know NFPA and Canadian / European furnace combustion guidelines and are knowledgeable in all required safety and fuel handling requirements. We have been deposed and have successfully defended industrial clients in multiple type litigation cases. Expert witnessing and litigation work is confidential and cannot be described in any detail. However, we have listed several select well-known and respected law firms that we have worked with and or supplied services.
Other related entities that ALFA has partnered with and or was engaged with in arbitration cases include GWI (a CFD supplier); LBE Feuerungstechnik GmbH (comparative analysis supplier); and legal consultants from TaylorWessing and Bach, Langheid & Dallmayr (German based firms); CH2M Hill; Lockwood Greene; Robson Forensic; GTK Flow Analysis (a CFD supplier); MCS Engineering; and O'Donnell Consulting Engineers; and others.
ALFA has designed and assisted in the construction of prototype lab testing furnaces. These engineered "scaled down" testing lab furnaces were used to validate and simulate real-world environments for use in varied case studies. We have provided lab testing that physically simulates industrial environments. We have combined our field testing with mathematical modeling that further validates real-world environments. We apply and use powerful advanced finite element modeling tools to construct admissible valid defensible solutions for our clients. Our modeling expertise includes both single and two phase flow systems, kinetic schemes, heating and or cooling applications, physical modeling of liquid, solid or gas environments, and full combustion process mechanics. We offer both advanced computational fluid dynamic and multi-dimensional heat transfer modeling, and work with Ansys - Fluent, OpenForm, Algor and our own internally developed proprietary heat transfer models. We have configured varied and plausible mathematical scenarios that could contribute to valuable engineering solutions; and as a result, yield significant dollar savings for clients involved in litigation cases involving accidental injuries, death and or equipment/product malfunctions.
